When Sybella arrived at the doorstep of St Mortain half mad with grief and despair the convent were only too happy to offer her refuge – but at a price. The sisters of this convent serve Death, and with Sybella naturally skilled in both the arts of death and seduction, she could become one of their most dangerous weapons.
But her assassin’s skills are little comfort when the convent returns her to the life that nearly drove her mad. Her father’s rage and brutality are terrifying, and her brother’s love is equally monstrous. But when Sybella discovers an unexpected ally she discovers that a daughter of Death may find something other than vengeance to live for…
So more like 4.5 stars. It was really close to being 5 stars but there were a few little things that irked me, so… 4.5 instead.
This book follows Sybella, an assassin who was sent back to her (horrible)family. She must overcome many obstacles to carry out a mission she has been waiting a lifetime to do. To kill her father. I really can’t blame Sybella though. I would want to kill him too.
My favorite part of the book would have to be Beast. If you have read the first book in the series than you know who that is. I was so happy that he was back in this book.
The writing in this book was just as good as the first one. I did get tired of the character saying “Merde” over and over around the middle of the book.
Other than that there seemed to be a lot of telling, not as much showing as there was in the last one.
But honestly that is just me nitpicking. This book really was good and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one in the series.
